Spinal Tap (стилизованно под Spın̈al Tap) — пародийная рок-группа, подражающая стилю британских хэви-метал коллективов. Впервые появилась на телеканале ABC TV в комедийном шоу «The T.V. Spinal Tap (stylized as Spın̈al Tap, with a dotless letter i and a metal umlaut over the n) is a parody band spoofing the style of heavy metal groups. The band first appeared on a 1979 ABC TV sketch comedy pilot called The T.V. Show, starring Rob Reiner. The sketch, actually a mock promotional video for the song "Rock and Roll Nightmare", was written by Reiner and the band, and included songwriter/performer Loudon Wainwright III on keyboards. Later the band became the fictional subject of the 1984 rockumentary/mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap. The band members are portrayed by Michael McKean (as David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (as Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (as Derek Smalls).
This Is Spinal Tap was accompanied by a soundtrack album of the same name. In the years following the film's release, the actors have portrayed the band members at concerts and released music under the Spinal Tap name. Guest, McKean, and Shearer toured in the United States in April and May 2009 and performed as Spinal Tap in a "One Night Only World Tour" on June 30, 2009 at Wembley Arena in London, three days after playing the Glastonbury Festival. В 1982 году хеви-метал-группа Spinal Tap («Спинномозговая пункция») в компании своего фаната-кинодокументалиста Марти (Райнер) отправляется в турне по Америке. Проблема лишь в том, что все участники группы — идиоты.
Райнер блистательно стилизовал свой фильм под традиционную «рокументальную» продукцию со всеми полагающимися по статусу причиндалами: фрагментами концертных выступлений, видеоклипами, закулисной хроникой и интервью с участниками бенда — настоящими металлистами от мозга до ширинки, которая заставляет звенеть металлоискатель в аэропорту. Снято все настолько точно и узнаваемо, что подлога можно и не заметить...
В фильме снялись участники полувымышленной хэви-метал группы Spinal Tap, которые в действительности владеют своими инструментами и впоследствии были рок-группой в настоящей жизни. Фильм насыщен сатирой и пародирует внешний вид, «бунтарское» поведение и музыкальные претензии таких групп как Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Aerosmith, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Sweet и The Beatles. Сразу после выпуска фильм не имел большого успеха, отчасти потому что многие зрители не поняли, что это не настоящий документальный фильм, а полная юмора фальсификация. This Is Spinal Tap (or simply Spinal Tap) was the soundtrack to the film This Is Spinal Tap, released in 1984. It was re-released in 2000 with lyrics and two versions of "Christmas with the Devil" as bonus tracks. The cover art is identical to that of the fictional album Smell the Glove featured in the film.

Break Like the Wind is a 1992 album by the semi-fictional band Spinal Tap. The title, from the album's title track, is a double entendre that combines and confuses the idiom "make like the wind [and blow]" (i.e. "go away") with "break[ing] wind" (a euphemism for flatulence), and samples the classical guitar piece Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo. The songs depict the range of genres that Spinal Tap endured, from the glam metal anthem "Bitch School" down to the skiffle satire of "All the Way Home". Originally, the CD was packaged in an 18-inch "extra-long box," as a satire against the controversial packaging policy of longboxes which was increasingly criticized as unnecessary and wasteful.
In the film This Is Spinal Tap, David St. Hubbins (portrayed by Michael McKean) and Nigel Tufnel (portrayed by Christopher Guest) claim "All the Way Home" is the first song they wrote together. Six years after it was written, David and Nigel recorded the song 14 December 1961. At this point the two were in different bands, David being in the 'Creatures' and Nigel with the 'Lovely Lads'. Similarly, "The Sun Never Sweats" is implied to be the title track from their fictitious album of the same name, whose cover is shown on the packaging of the album This Is Spinal Tap. Википедия
