Founded by Leif Edling in 1994, after the initial breakup of Candlemass.

A second Abstrakt Algebra album was recorded, but initially not released, as the band were unhappy with its sound. Most of the songs were re-recorded and appeared on Candlemass' Dactylis Glomerata album. When that album was re-released in 2006 by GMR Music Group, the original recordings were added as a bonus disc.
