Before the Dawn started as Tuomas Saukkonen's solo project, though there were also other members on the first two albums. They later became more session based, and eventually a full band.
In January 2013, Tuomas Saukkonen ended all his ongoing bands and projects, and announced the beginning of Wolfheart.
However, the band reformed in 2021.
