Quartz initially performed in the midlands cabaret clubs as Bandy Legs, the moniker under which their 7" single "Ride Ride" / "Don't Play Games" was released in 1974. They signed to Jet Records in 1976, changing their name to Quartz in time for their debut album (which was produced by Tony Iommi and Chris Tsangarides).

They later signed with MCA Records, but were dropped when the album did not ...
