Katatonia - шведская группа, основанная в 1991 году в Стокгольме вокалистом Jonas Renkse и гитаристом Anders Nyström.
Раннее творчество коллектива принято характеризовать как death\doom metal, а сама группа, наряду с My Dying Bride, Anathema и Paradise Lost, считается пионером этого жанра.
Однако после записи альбома Brave Murder Day, на котором вокальные партии исполнил Mikael Åkerfeldt, Katatonia сменила свой стиль в сторону смягчения звучания, а Jonas Renkse отказался от использования гроулинга в пользу чистого вокала.
