Since its inception in 2004, Adelaide’s A Red Dawn have been
establishing a reputation for their impeccable musicianship and
uncompromising live shows throughout the Australian metal scene.
In a musical landscape where bands too easily follow trends;
and having tread the boards long enough too see trends come and go, A
Red Dawn since day one has always considered originality and musical
expression more important than ‘breakdowns, tight pants, haircuts and
scene points’ with a sound that incorporates traditional death metal
stylings ( Death / Cynic ) fused with elements of free form jazz, to
create a brutal soundscape that grabs the attention of any avid metal
supporter.
After self producing and financing their demo Ep " This Urban
Conflict, and many interstate shows in support of this, A Red Dawn have
played with all the big names in Australian metal ( Psycroptic, Shallow
Grave, Pathogen, Double Dragon, Truth Corroded, Terrorust, Lynchmada,
Black Like Vengeance, The Jonestown Syndicate, Picture The End, F**k Im
Dead, Synthesist, Contrive ) and also appeared twice on Against The
Grain festival ( 1 & 3 ) A Red Dawn are now focused on taking their
live sound, and music a step forward with their latest release ‘The
Need To Defy’, released nationally in 2008 through Truth Inc Records.
Produced by Ian ‘ E-dog’ Miller ( Double Dragon / Cry Murder
) ‘The Need To Defy’ has pushed the envelope one step further with five
tracks of sheer brutality, with the bands music twisting and turning
through flawless syncopated riffs, insane time signatures and
effortless jazz sections, A Red Dawn are now poised and ready to make
their mark on an already flourishing Australian Metal Community.
