Raphael Weinroth-Browne - Speed of Light
Описание материала:(Official Video)
Originally composed as part of a commissioned work for the esteemed contemporary dance company James Wilton Dance, Speed of Light is a visceral reworking of J.S. Bach’s Prelude to the G Major Cello Suite.
Imbued with Raphael’s unmistakable cellistic signature, the composition is replete with angular riffs and Middle Eastern melodies. It is a ferocious re-imagining of a Baroque classic that stands at the intersection of the archaic and the futuristic, featuring a crystal clear and crushing mix by Adam Noble (Leprous, Katatonia). The track was recorded and engineered by Darren McGill (The Dirty Nil, PUP) and the music video was shot and edited by Dark Fable Media (Sleep Token, TesseracT).
Over the course of the piece, intricate Baroque patterns flicker and dance like shafts of radiant light, giving way to fiery virtuosic solos that would sound equally at home in a progressive metal epic as they would in a modern concerto. As the ornate arpeggios dissolve into insistent repeated notes, the inexorable rhythms of the distorted cello culminate in an explosive climax. Darkly transcendent, Speed of Light is a dialogue with Bach across the centuries.
