The band's name, Slough Feg, or more formally, The Lord Weird Slough Feg, is taken from the main villain in the British comic book series Sláine, which is set in a world based on Celtic myths and stories. Those myths, as recounted in the historical tome known as the Táin Bó Cúailnge (tawn bo cool'gnya), provide the fodder for many of Mike's lyrical topics, although subjects such as mental evolution, moral mastery, and your basic misery and madness also tend to crop up, even when not related to mythology.

Kamchatka are a Swedish power trio highly influenced by late 1960s and early 1970s blues rock bands. Their sound combines elements of blues rock, stoner rock and psychedelic rock.
