Aenima is a Portuguese dark wave, rock band formed in Almada in 1997. The name of the band is a play on the Latin word anima, meaning "soul". The band is notable for its guitar-based ambient sound and clear female vocals.
Critics quite often compare the band to Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance.
Aenima was founded by guitarist and producer Rune Eriksen (previously with Millennium) and vocalist Carmen Susana Simões (previously with Poetry of Shadows and Isiphilon). They soon added bassist Paulo, guitarist Nor and drummer Hugo to their line-up. Carmen was the band's main lyricist during her years with Aenima.
Aenima's debut LP album, Revolutions, was released in 1999 by the Symbiose label. Originally the band was signed for a two-album deal, but their record label soon went out of business, so Aenima had to look for another publisher.
The follow-up record, Never Fragile, was released by Equilibrium Music in 2002. With its 6 tracks, Never Fragile is considered to be an EP or maxi-single. It was highly praised by critics.
In 2003, Aenima released their second full-length album, Sentient, via the US-based Middle Pillar Presents label, becoming the first European act to be signed by the label.
Carmen left the band after Sentient was released. She was soon replaced with a new singer, Susana, a graduate of Lisbon Conservatory. As of 2007, the band was working on recording their new, yet-unnamed album
/ AENIMA's debut, "Revolutions", caused quite an impression on both press and fans, who were unanimous in their praise when it came to live shows as well. The band have been compared in the past to the likes of Cocteau Twins, The Gathering, The Third and the Mortal, Faith and the Muse or Dead Can Dance, and now "Never Fragile" brings forth a sharper side of AENIMA, properly seasoned after outstanding live appearances in notorious international festivals such as the M'era Luna Festival, in Germany. Although they have hardly dropped the ethereal moods of their debut album, AENIMA have improved their recipe which bridges the gap between a clever use of technological artefacts and conventional rock compositions with a skilled use of melody, groove and ambience.
"Forlorn" opens in a mournful, dirge-like manner, and gradually climbs to its zenith, with the female vocals voice rising from lament to crystal clear soprano tones. Drums and bass provide an escort in her grievous march, clad with a veil of twinkling guitars and subtle keyboard undertones, as opposed to the heavier posture found in "At the Edge of a Cliff" with its hard, distorted, guitars.
"The Light", perhaps the disc's most easily memorable track, has been used as the closing track for the band's set at the M'era Luna performances and shows AENIMA's brighter face, with an approach that seems to draw some Pop sensitivities to their dark rock, which acquires a more introspective and melancholic tone again for "Lilith".
Last but not least, "Rapture" begins in a rather celestial mood, and leads AENIMA through a slightly more synthetic path to close up "Never Fragile".

Это очень грамотно и бесшабашно залихватски одновременно. Это эталон hard-rock blues красиво сочинённым и афигена сыгранным (и спетым). Здесь присутствуют пи@дец секреты, которые открываешь с каждой новой композицией. Зачётное продолжение одноимённого дебюта прошлого года (который за одну обложку можно качать, но я скачал конечно не только за облогу). Конал (с волшебной фамилией Монтгомери) (54) писал эти песни в акустике а группа исполнила их как... об стенку грохнули (со слов самого Конала) !!! )) Ритм-секция опытных + гитары молодых получился, с вокалом самого Конала, альбом (два альбома) неповторимого альбома. И ещё раз убедился что это ирландцы! Мы уже как то отмечали, что ирландцы отличаются от англичан. У них свой шарм, заметный )) Спасибо за знакомство!
Название группы связано с годом Дракона, что обычно для метал-групп с эпическими темами. Музыку они играют настоящий метал, не то что современные синтетические версии. Спасибо за релиз.
Этот альбом понравится как фанатам Galactic Empire, так и тем, кто любит тяжёлую музыку с нотками ностальгии. Группа не изобретает новый жанр, но делает свою работу так круто и с таким задором, что слушать Cinemetal — это как заново пережить любимые моменты из фильмов.
What Once Was — это крутой дебют, который точно понравится любителям старого шведского дэт-метала и ранних Amon Amarth. Ребята не пытаются изобрести велосипед, но делают это так круто и мощно, что EP звучит как полноценный мини-альбом. Это не просто кивок в сторону прошлого, а четкий сигнал: Fimbul Winter готовы занять свое место в пантеоне экстремального метала. С удовольствием оставлю у себя. Спасибо
Origins — это не просто успешный хит, а личная история. Elusive Mind показал себя как крутой композитор и саунд-дизайнер, не боится экспериментировать и пробовать новое. Спасибо за релиз.
Данила портит всю картину, не повезло ему да и всем им... Валят они конечно мощно, но.... а не достать ли из закромов Iron Maiden и послушать настоящих Дев. Тоже мне ещё одна Greta Van Fleet
Ещё когда слушал #4. Lift Up Your Soul с её стереофоническим по колонкам солирующей гитарой мелькнула мысль о записанных альбомах LZ ну а когда послушал " Золотое Зеркало " мне ещё больше понравилась составляющая альбома. В лучших традициях! Автору релиза
Когда такие музыканты выпускают такие альбомы, такие песни... Lift Up Your Soul, Love In Deneil, эйфорическое состояние молодости наполняет сердца 70-80-х Вроде как последний альбом будет в дискографии группы. Красиво завершают. Babylon продолжение, ещё лучше. Sea Of Stones, The Strangers говорят пока-пока... эх, Machine Bone и здесь заканчивается ))
Да этого трека действительно нет , но он отсутствует на всех муз ресурсах, не знаю почему, я его нашел и могу включить, но тогда мне придется сделать потрековый трек лист без куя
